Which actor/actress would you like to see playing the lead character from your most recent book?

Blake Lively and Zach Efron

What Inspired You to write The Pledge?

THE PLEDGE is coauthored by myself and my good friend, Christine Manzari. We discovered that we went to the same college at the same time, but we had polar opposite experiences. I joined a sorority and dove into the party life, while she pledged a drug and alcohol free college experience as a member of Gymkana, an acrobatic gymnastics troupe. This led us to wonder, how could two people from such different worlds every get together and fall in love? Thus, THE PLEDGE was born.

Give us an insight into your main character. What does he/she do that is so special?

THE PLEDGE has two main characters. Taren represents so many of us. She had a hard time in high school and was bullied. She had an unrequited crush on Alec, the hot jock at her high school. She looks at college as a chance to start over and remake herself. Of course, like many of us, she goes too far and has to figure out how she really is before she can find happiness with anyone else. Alec was very popular in high school, but his home life was tough. To him, college is an escape and a way to figure out who he wants to be in life. Alec joins a group that is less popular on campus, almost switching roles with Taren. But by being true to himself, he discovers an inner strength he never knew he had. What genre are your books?

What genre are your books?

New Adult (The Pledge, book 1 in the College Bound series & the Not Yet series) and Contemporary Romance (Past Heaven)

What draws you to this genre?

As an almost 40 year old woman, I love Contemporary Romance novels because they often feature storylines that I’m familiar with or that resonate with my life today. I love New Adult for the exact opposite reason. I love to go back in time to my early twenties, when I was trying to figure out who I was and what I wanted from life.Where do your ideas come from?

What is your favourite motivational phrase or positive saying. What does this mean to you?

“Dreams don’t work unless you do.” I write every day. I love to write, so this makes me happy, but I’m also working every day to make my dreams come true. What is your favourite book and why?

What is your favourite book and why?

Tough one! I can’t pick one. I’m going to say that right now my favorite book is Confess by Colleen Hoover. I’m choosing that one because Colleen is a true inspiration with how she incorporates mixed media (songs, art work, and reader interaction) into her stories. She is brilliant! What is your favourite quote and why?

What is your favourite quote and why?

“If your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough.”

About Not Yet

Emma Harris is learning that life is just a series of lessons.

Lesson #1: Nothing goes the way you plan.

Lesson #2: You can’t trust men. Especially not the pretty ones.

Lesson #3: Turns out, appearances are almost always deceiving.

Emma thinks she has life all figured out, and what she knows isn’t good. For years, she’s put her big sister, who was born with Down syndrome, first. Now Emma’s ready to start her own life, but fate has other plans. To do the right thing for the sister she loves, Emma’s dreams will just have to wait. She doesn’t plan on meeting Landon — a rich, flirtatious jock, who never has to wait for anything. Not for attention, not for money, and certainly not for girls. Meeting Emma marks the first time in his life that he’s had to fight for something. And Landon doesn’t know how to lose. Emma has no interest in wasting her summer with a superficial guy like Landon. But very soon she realizes she is wrong about him. The question is, can she trust him? Or will he let her down like every other guy in her life? But most importantly, can Emma trust herself enough to live the life she’s always dreamed of? Life has a way of sneaking in the most important lessons when you aren’t looking. And once the heart gets involved, that’s when the real learning begins.

About Past Heaven

Not every love story has a happy ending. Some just change your life. Liz Atwater’s happily ever after is torn from her and she’s living her worst nightmare. Everything changed the instant her husband, Jack, was murdered. She is now forced to pick up the shattered pieces of her life as she faces the daunting task of raising three young children alone. A world away in Hollywood, actor Reynolds Carter is recovering from the humiliation of his girlfriend’s cheating scandal. The public affair forces him to admit that he wants his life to be meaningful, not just front page gossip and headlines in the tabloids. Reynolds finds his purpose in memorializing the story of Jack Atwater, whose life ambition was to bring attention to people with disabilities who were living in institutions. As Reynolds takes on the challenge of this new project, his world collides with that of Liz. They never expected their professional relationship to evolve into friendship, or love, but that’s exactly what happens. Unfortunately, life is never simple. Faced with complications from family, friends, and work colleagues, Liz and Reynolds are left to decide whether two people from such different worlds can find happiness together. Can they get past the pain, fear, and guilt to risk their hearts to love again? If so, would it be worth it? Not every love story is just a happy ending. Some completely change your life.

About The Pledge

Taren needs a do-over. She’s decided the best way to put the high school bullies behind her is to pledge a Taylor-Swift-lip-syncing, beer-guzzling, sorority. Sisterhood helps Taren find the acceptance she’s always craved, but not the love she needs. Alec wants freedom. To escape his father’s iron fist and unrealistic expectations, he pledges a campus acrobatics club where he finds that drugs and alcohol aren’t the only ways to get high. His addiction to danger helps him gain his independence, but it comes at a heavy price. When the two cross paths, Alec fears his undeniable attraction to the party girl just might threaten everything he’s worked so hard to earn. Taren hasn’t forgotten that Alec humiliated her back in high school, but she also can’t deny the chemistry they share. Alec and Taren have nothing in common, but fate is bound and determined to bring them together. They know falling in love is a risk, and yet it’s too hard to ignore. When their worlds clash and they both end up suffering, will they fight to stay together? Or are some pledges too hard to keep?
