Hey, I’m Riley Edgewood. I write sexy romance with a twist and I love, love meeting new readers. I live in northern Virginia with my husband, our daughter, and two sweet kitties.
My interview with Riley Edgewood:
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Truth & Temptation is the third standalone in my Summer Love series and the main character is a girl named Teagan. She was actually a secondary character in another book (Rock & Release) and she had such an attitude when I started writing her, I knew I needed to delve deeper into her character to figure out why she was as snarky as she was/is. And it all came out in Truth & Temptation. It was the hardest book for me to write to date—but I also love her story. And Alec (her love interest) is one of the yummiest guys I’ve ever written.
Which writers inspire you?
This changes all the time, but two authors who never fail to inspire me are Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher. I love both of their story styles—and the way they make me feel for their characters—so, so much.
Give us an insight into your main character. What does he/she do that is so special?
Teagan’s got a lot of issues. Her parents abandoned her, and her grandparents raised her—but only barely. She’s very alone. She has learning difficulties that she never really understood while growing up, and she suffers from some pretty hard depression. Nobody ever helped her when she needed them to—and now that she’s an adult, she’s finally got the means to do it for herself.
And then there’s Alec. He’s got issues of his own, but he comes from a very different background and he’s the perfect balance for Teagan. Too bad he’s also her boss, which makes a relationship between them a bit taboo. It’d be easy to avoid, if only their chemistry wasn’t so off the charts 😉
What genre are your books?
Very sexy romance.
What draws you to this genre?
I’ve loved romance for as long as I can remember. Reading it. Watching it. Living it. It only makes sense that I’d be drawn to write the genre!
Where do your ideas come from?
Real life. Imagined life. Events. Dreams. In the shower. Songs. Concerts… You name it.
Is there any marketing technique you used that had an immediate impact on your sales figures?
Facebook advertising has been the biggest game changer for me. I could write an entire essay on it, but to save you and your readers time, I’ll just suggest googling Mark Dawson’s Facebook Course for anyone who’s interested. What is your favourite motivational phrase or positive saying. What does this mean to you?
What is your favourite motivational phrase or positive saying. What does this mean to you?
This too shall pass.
I love it because it’s true—an it’s a bit like a rope I can hold onto during the toughest parts of life when I’d otherwise forget that things always get easier. And it’s like an anchor when things are going amazingly, too. Someday I’m getting it tattooed onto my skin.
