CROSSING THE LINE
Cross Creek Series, book 2
by Kimberly Kincaid
This book was hauntingly beautiful like I imagine Nate’s angel’s to be. It was tragic yet so much blossoms and grows from that tragedy and so many people learn to love and forgive and grow-up and become the people they are meant to be all because of one woman. I love the lesson that can be learned from this book about not giving up through any tragedy and to fight for your life, your dreams, love, your future, someone else’s future, something, everything, just FIGHT! River absolves these boys of all their sins…it’s the perfect name. She gives everyone absolution. Don’t get me wrong, there are many triggers in this book so be forewarned. It deals with rape, drugs, PTSD, abuse, and lots of guilt and anger, but I love this book. Myers is a gifted writer who is able to tackle so many sensitive issues for both boys and girls who survive rape and abuse and the foster system. and feel shame and guilt but Myers does a beautiful job handling these tough topics. Everyone should read this book and realize what can happen and how just one person can make a difference.

In many ways, this book tied up many questions from book one. It explained away Mackenzie’s leaving, but, as a mother, it still makes absolutely no sense to me. I still consider her a selfish cow and the lasting affects on Grace will be insurmountable, which I am guessing will rear its head in book three. And Lord I can only shake my head at Weston. It’s like he almost caused the whole mess with Trent and Delaney. Goodness, eyeing Trent’s woman from the moment he saw her. I wanted to smack Weston upside his head! Anyways! The book was a fast read and has lots of twists and turns but not as much as book one-thank goodness. Bring on book 3-I’m ready!

One 5-star reviewer stated
I pretty much couldn’t put the book down. Caitlyn is a journalist, who is out to get the story behind a video of a shifter…Mark is the firefighter/lawyer/ bear shifter, who helped remove her from her wrecked car. Now all bets are off, and the excitement begins! Book 2 of the series, and definitely worth reading!
I must say that I loved book 1 and can’t wait to start reading this one.
The biggest story of her life could be her last … unless her mate can save her.
Curvy journalist Caitlyn Roberts can’t believe her eyes. She and her boss at a popular paranormal investigations website have just received shocking footage of a local businessman turning into a giant beast! Things go bad in a hurry when the subject of the investigation decides to destroy the evidence…and her.
Feeling the heat
Caitlyn flees for her life, only to end up stranded in the middle of nowhere when her car goes off the road. Certain she’s about to die, her luck finally takes a turn for the better when she’s rescued by the strongest, sexiest firefighter she’s ever seen.
Small town, big trouble
Bear shifter and small-town attorney Mark Swanson divides his time between running a law office to help his friends and neighbors in small-town Bearpaw Ridge and volunteering as a firefighter. The last thing he expects is for an accident victim to be his fated mate…especially when she turns out to be the reporter behind the news site determined to expose shifters as real.
Love in the crosshairs
Despite the risks, Mark and his bear can’t resist getting closer to the sexy reporter they both want to claim. The heat between them is irresistible—but when a shifter hit man shows up, it’s clear that Caitlyn’s got more problems than a wrecked car. Can he and his mate trust each other with their deepest secrets, or will their happy ending be ripped away from them?
Smolder is a full-length steamy shifter romance with no cheating and a happy ending.

I really enjoyed this story about a very strong female jaguar shifter who realizes that she has been lied to repeatedly. While on a research mission hunting down people for her job, she has the opportunity to do the right thing and figure out her life. She meets a bunch of men who respect her strength and skills and find a job that fits them. The story has a little bit of everything to keep it balanced; humor, violence, self-contemplation, romance, friendship, and a protective sexy bear shifter to round it all out.
Beautiful. Deadly. Destined.
A skilled assassin…
Jaguar shifter Catrina Hunter is a Beast Warrior, used by Whitepine Security Services to do its dirty work. She might be good at her job, but she hates it. And she can’t remember anything about her life before WSS.
An assignment to retrieve an AWOL scientist and his research from the small town of Elysia goes spectacularly wrong when Catrina finds herself the prisoner of a big, handsome bear shifter. The forbidden heat that flares between them soon has her questioning her mission…and her sanity.
A hardened warrior…
Rancher Brett Thorfinnson is a former Beast Warrior himself, and he doesn’t believe the gorgeous shifter woman’s claim that she’s escaped from WSS. Something about her story doesn’t add up. What he is certain of is that she’s the sexiest woman he’s ever seen…and his bear insists that this curvy stranger is their fated mate.
A dangerous dilemma
When WSS targets one of Elysia’s human doctors, Brett must determine whether Catrina is part of the problem—or the solution. And if he decides to trust her, will his luscious cat let herself be claimed by a bear?

*** AUTHOR’S NOTE and CONTENT WARNING: This story contains triggers for rape victims and soldiers. I did my best to remain respectful to the healing process for both. Hillary’s feelings are hers alone and ONLY represent how she feels about her attack. Dylan’s emotions about his time at war are his ALONE. You are all strong and beautiful, and you will soar again! ***
A broken soldier …
Dylan Meyer lived his life fast and hard, doing anything to keep his emotions masked. In Crystal Gulf, Texas, women, drugs, and alcohol are in abundance. After all, it’s a college town. But eventually, his lifestyle caught up to him. The birth of his daughter, Aubrey, forced him to grow up and take responsibility for his actions. He let his vices go, cleaned up his act, and allowed himself to fall for Harley Evans.
But Dylan is a liar.
He lied to himself. To Harley. To his best friend, Bach. And then he lied himself right into a U.S. Army uniform. When he went to war, he left Harley with his best friend in hopes that he’d look out for her while he was deployed. Not in his darkest nightmares did he think Bach and Harley would fall in love.
A fallen angel …
Hillary Hayes is an eighteen-year-old sophomore in college who understands the importance of rules. She’s followed them her entire life. She gets perfect grades, avoids dating, and won’t stray from the future her mother mapped out. On the outside, she’s perfect. Inside, she’s drowning.
That carefully crafted future disappears when she downs a beer at a party. What’s left of that night is the wreckage of the girl she used to be.
Until she meets Dylan. Her brother’s best friend.
When Dylan returns from war, he can’t move past the betrayal. His daughter’s growing up without him. Flashbacks and PTSD from his time in Afghanistan consume him. He loses himself in a dark depression. There is no light in his darkness …until he meets Hillary. His best friend’s little sister is the only good thing among all the bad.
He’s her safe place.
She’s his light.
Can two damaged souls ever find peace, or is the damage too much to overcome?
Before I met Harley, this was who I was. A man who used whatever he wanted to use to forget the darkness of his past. A man who hurt to hide his hurt. And a man who lied to hide the truth. When I came home and woke up from surgery, Bach kept me in the dark for some time before he told me the truth. He’d taken my girl when he promised to watch out for her. Ever since that day, I’d let the lies go and slid back into my old skin.
This was Dylan Meyer.
Like him or not.
A man who had fallen too many times to bother trying to get up again. I’d lie there, on the floor, with gravel in my wounds and my eyes staring up at the midnight sky until I found this uncomfortable position comfortable again.
When I walk into a book store I feel at home. When I smell the pages of a brand new book things make sense. When I read I am who I always wanted to be. I read to escape and I write so others can as well. My family, my actress dog Bella, coffee, and a steamy love story are a few of my most precious things. My Sweet Demise is my debut new-adult contemporary romance novel.
